The Silence Beyond Eden

Image
The Silence Beyond Eden  The sky, dust-laden, wears the stains of ash, while restless souls gather pearls of eternity, yet their hunger remains unsatiated. Frontiers bleed, dreams crumble into ruins, and nameless children inherit an unknown Eden's ashes. Once, your footsteps consecrated the earth, your breath sanctified the wandering winds. Now, iron and fire dictate the fate of spring. Who taught the flowers to fear their blossoming? Perhaps the giants still play their ancient game, moving kingdoms across the chessboard of the earth, while pawns of flesh and blood vanish beneath their shadows. And you remain silent, beyond the ruins of paradise. Is your silence the final mystery of creation, or the permission through which the giants reign?

Earrings

 Earrings

Leave your bed, my dear—

won't you go to the car shed?

his wife asked softly.

"I am too tired," he said.

"If I rest, it may be forever."

"Oh no—we have no groceries

for cooking. Please go."

"Then take my temperature first."

Her hand found his forehead—

scorching fire, slick with fever.

"Oh my God," she cried,

"I will not let you go to the shed.

I'll manage somehow—you need treatment." But then,

their son Mike's school fees

echoed sharp in her mind.

"My earrings," she whimpered,

"I'll pawn them."

"No, no—they're all we have

from our wedding day,"

he said weakly.

"But your life is worth more than gold."

She sighed,

and unclasped her ears—

their faint metallic glint fading.
